Google Business Profile Video Verification Guide

Google Business Profile video verification is a process Google uses to confirm your business is real, operating, and located where you say it is. You will need to record a short video using your mobile device inside your Google Business Profile.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Access to your business location
  • Your mobile phone with internet connection
  • Your Google Business Profile login
  • Business signage visible
  • Tools or equipment used in your business

Important: Your video must be under 20 seconds, so plan exactly what you will show before recording.

Step 1: Access Video Verification

  1. Log into your Google Business Profile
  2. Select your business
  3. Click “Get Verified”
  4. Choose “Video Verification”

Image Example:

Insert screenshot of your Google Business Profile dashboard with the “Get Verified” button highlighted.

Step 2: What Your Video Must Show

Your video must clearly prove these three things within 20 seconds.

1. Your Location

Show the outside of your business, including:

  • Street signs
  • Nearby landmarks
  • Building exterior
  • Shopfront

Image Example:

Insert a photo of the storefront with visible signage and street name.

2. Your Business Exists

Show branding and proof of operation, such as:

  • Business signage
  • Logo
  • Reception area or workspace

Image Example:

Insert an interior photo with branding visible.

3. You Manage the Business

Show that you have authority to access and operate the business, such as:

  • Unlocking the door
  • Accessing staff-only areas
  • Using equipment or systems

Image Example:

Insert a photo of a staff member opening the door or using business equipment.

Step 3: Recording the Video

Follow this structure to stay within the 20 second limit:

  1. Start outside the business, 3 to 5 seconds
  2. Show street and signage, 3 to 5 seconds
  3. Walk into the business, about 5 seconds
  4. Show interior and branding, about 5 seconds
  5. Quickly demonstrate operations in the remaining time

Important:

  • Keep the video under 20 seconds
  • Record in one continuous take
  • Do not edit the video
  • Keep it steady and clear
  • Move with purpose and avoid pauses

Step 4: Upload Your Video

  1. Record directly in Google where possible
  2. Or upload your recorded video
  3. Submit for review

Google will review your video. This can take a few days.

Common Reasons for Rejection

  • Video longer than 20 seconds
  • No visible signage
  • Filming from inside only
  • Poor lighting or blurry footage
  • No proof you manage the business
  • Editing or cutting the video

What Happens Next?

  • If approved, your profile becomes verified
  • If rejected, you may be asked to re-submit
  • In some cases, Google may request additional proof

Important Warning

Do not make changes to your Google Business Profile during verification.

Changes to the following can delay or cancel your verification process.

  • Address
  • Business name
  • Categories
