How to build a Brand Online: A Beginners Guide

  1. Define your brand: Your brand should have a clear and consistent message that defines what you do, what your values are and how your brand stands out from its competitors.

Understand your target audience: Identify ideal customer avatar - how they think, what they need, how they live, where there are based, lifestyles, and quirky habits - everything to gain more insight into how you need to shape your brand. Understanding their needs, preferences, and behaviors can help you tailor your brand message to their unique requirements.
  3. Research your competition: know what you are up against. What marketing activities, and techniques they are using and use this as a gap analysis for your own branding strategy. To find out what is not being offered and how you can stand out above the rest?
  4. Develop a brand voice and tone: Establish a brand voice and tone that reflects your brand's personality and values. This should be consistent across all marketing and communication channels.
  5. Create a visual brand identity: One that reflects your brand's personality and values. This goes beyond your logo, it is your color scheme, typography, and overall design aesthetic.
